About Felt & Fjord

Felt & Fjord makes hats for the sauna, and a few things that go with them. The idea comes from the harbor baths of Copenhagen, where a session runs in rounds: heat on the bench, a gus led by a gusmester waving a towel through scented steam, then a walk down the jetty and into the cold water.

A good sauna hat is a small thing that changes the top bench. Thick wool shades your head and hair from the hottest air under the ceiling, and it dries on a hook between rounds. So we make hats first: felted and knitted, in a few shapes and colors.

What we look for

• Pure wool, felted thick enough to stand on its own brim.
• Towels that dry fast and wave well.
• Wood that is turned plainly and can be oiled and kept.
